💡 What is "Device & Measurement Check" in FoxMobile?
"Device & Measurement Check" is a feature of the free FoxMobile app (available for iOS & Android) that allows you to:
Trigger an immediate measurement of your FoxHardware directly on-site
Determine the current status of your FoxHardware
Recommendations & notes:
Perform "Check Device & Measurement" after installing the FoxHardware to ensure regular and successful measurements.
To perform "Device & Measurement Check", the FoxMobile app on your smartphone connects to the FoxHardware via Bluetooth. The power button on the FoxHardware must be pressed during the process. This means that "Check Device & Measurement" only works when the FoxHardware is within range.
🎯 When Should You Use "Device & Measurement Check" in FoxMobile?
Use the feature when:
The FoxHardware has been newly installed on a tank and the installation needs to be checked for errors.
An immediate measurement is needed to verify the current fill level. (Alternative without FoxMobile: manual measurement)
You need a quick measurement report to document the installation (e.g., via screenshot).
You want to check the battery status and cellular connection of the FoxHardware.
You need to update the firmware of your FoxHardware
You want to specify whether the FoxHardware should connect via Wi-Fi or mobile network.
⚙️ How to Perform "Device & Measurement Check"?
Open the FoxMobile app and tap the three horizontal lines in the top left corner:
Under "General Settings," select "Perform device & measurement check":
Tap "I am at the tank" to start the check:
Switch on the FoxHardware when prompted by the app. The connection will automatically be established via Bluetooth:
Once the FoxHardware is connected to your smartphone, you can:
update the firmware (if necessary)
start a measurement check at "measurement check"
at "connectivity settings":
switch between Wifi and mobile network (mobile network is the default)
if Wi-Fi is selected: change the Wi-Fi settings (e.g., if you have a new router password)
if mobile network is selected & corresponding firmware installed: select your preferred cellular network (e.g., "Vodafone").
🔑 What Information Do You Receive Through "Measurement Check"?
1. Fill Level in Liters, Centimeters, and Percent
➡️ Compare the measured value with a manual measurement (e.g., with a measuring stick) to check plausibility.
2. Warning Messages for Implausible Measurements
➡️ Correct the installation or tank settings directly on-site to avoid support cases and additional service visits.
3. Detailed Measurement Report (FoxRadar Only)
➡️ Review the measured fill level and signal strength of the FoxRadar.
4. Connection, Battery, and Firmware Status
➡️ Ensure that the battery is sufficiently charged and that a stable cellular connection is available.
5. Help with Deviating Fill Levels
➡️ Provides you with useful installation guides for the respective FoxHardware device or allows you to perform a new measurement for verification purposes, e.g. after you have adjusted the tank configuration.
This feature is not available for older FoxHardware models whose serial number (Hardware ID) begins with “OF”. For these devices, please go to “Add or update Fox” in the FoxMobile app settings and follow the instructions there. While this does not provide a detailed device check, it allows the FoxHardware to reconnect to FoxCloud and to reconfigure the device.
