ℹ️ What is a manual metering?
A manual metering is essentially a reduced form of the “device & measurement check” feature, just without the FoxMobile app. During a manual metering, the FoxHardware device in question only performs an immediate metering outside of the set metering interval / metering time, without checking the device further.
Manual meterings work the same way for all our FoxHardware sensor models (FoxSonic, FoxRadar, and FoxPressure).
🎯 When is a manual metering useful?
Quick check whether FoxHardware can:
be switched on at all and still has enough battery power
successfully establish a connection to FoxCloud to send meterings.
“Wake up” FoxHardware on site if connection to FoxCloud is interrupted & no more fill levels are transmitted
No FoxMobile app at hand to perform “Device & measurement check”
Immediate & fast fill level measurement required for verification
If you have already checked the FoxHardware using “device & measurement check”, a manual metering is no longer necessary.
⚙️ How does a manual metering work?
1) First, briefly press the FoxHardware power button once:
If neither of the two LEDs on the FoxHardware is lit or flashing, the batteries are most likely empty ➡️ replace the old batteries in the FoxHardware with new batteries as described here.
If the green LED stays lit after switching on for the first time, the batteries are still sufficiently charged.
2) Now wait approx. 3 seconds and then press the power button again briefly:
Now the green LED remains lit continuously and the orange LED flashes.
Shortly thereafter, the FoxHardware automatically switches itself off again.
3) Check the behavior of the LEDs before the FoxHardware switches off automatically:
✅ Green LED flashes:
FoxHardware was able to successfully connect to FoxCloud and transmit the measurement that was just performed.
The new measurement result is now visible in the FoxMobile app & FoxPortal.
❌ Orange LED flashes:
FoxHardware was unable to connect to FoxCloud to transmit the measurement that was just performed.
Possible causes: poor mobile phone reception in the area or a more serious technical problem.
Possible solutions: Perform “device & measurement check” with FoxMobile. If this is not possible or unsuccessful, your provider's support team will be happy to help.
Note: if your FoxHardware device only allows manual meterings, but doesn't perform its regular, automatic meterings according to its metering interval & time, your provider's support team will be happy to help.
