FoxPortal - "Partners"

Updated this week

ℹ️ Overview

Using the partner levels in FoxPortal, you can:

  • group and sort FoxHardware devices (e.g., by sales areas or regions, your respective customers, etc.)

  • control which FoxPortal users can see which FoxHardware devices in FoxPortal

Find out here:

🧩 How to configure "partners"

  • In FoxPortal, go to “Partners” in the left panel (if you cannot see “Partners” there, you probably do not have the appropriate user rights - in this case, please contact your administrator).

  • Depending on which partner level your own user is located at, you will see existing elements and levels of your “partner tree” on the left-hand side.

  • “Filter partners” ⇨ If you already have a fairly extensive partner tree, you can enter the name of the partner element you want to edit in this search field. Alternatively, click on the desired partner element in the partner tree below.

  • “Add partner” ⇨ Here you can create a new partner element and “hang” it within the existing partner levels:

    • Enter the name of the new partner element in “Partner name.”

    • Under “Parent partner,” select the partner level to which your new partner element should be subordinate from the list.

    • At “Products,” select the oils (e.g., heating oil, diesel, lubricants, etc.) that should be available on your new partner element when setting up FoxHardware devices.

  • “Delete partner” ⇨ After a confirmation dialog, deletes the partner element that is currently selected in the partner tree on the left side (= highlighted in blue).

  • Once you have finished editing, click “Save” in the lower right corner.

You can add up to 6 sub-levels within the partner tree.

👥 How do I assign FoxPortal users to partners?

If you assign a specific partner level to a FoxPortal user, that user will see all FoxHardware devices assigned to that partner level and all its sub-levels in FoxPortal. This applies to all user roles.

Assigning a user to a partner level in FoxPortal has no effect on which devices the user sees in the FoxMobile app. In order for a user to see a certain device within the FoxMobile app, instead, the device must be assigned to the respective user.

  • In FoxPortal, go to “Users” in the left panel and search for/select the desired user account from the list.

  • In the user's detailed view, click on “Edit” in the top right-hand corner (if you cannot see this button, you probably do not have the necessary user rights - in this case, please contact your administrator).

  • Go to the “Role” tab at the top right.

  • Under “Select partner,” choose the desired partner level from the list below to which you want to assign the user:

  • Click “Save” to finish.

⚙️ How do I assign FoxHardware devices to partners?

This serves to clearly group your FoxHardware devices and control users' viewing rights for specific devices in FoxPortal. This has no influence on which devices a user sees in the FoxMobile app - instead, a device must be assigned to a user for this purpose.

  • In FoxPortal, go to “Devices” in the left panel.

  • At the top of the device list, select the checkboxes for all FoxHardware devices that you want to assign to a specific partner. It is also possible to select a single device.

  • Select “Assign partner” in the gray box below, choose the desired partner from the list, and confirm your selection by clicking “Assign partner” when you are finished.

🎯 What are some specific examples of use?

External - Business customer with one or more FoxHardware devices:

⇨ Your business customer will now only see those FoxHardware devices in FoxPortal that are on the same partner level as their own user account. If they would like to see these devices in the FoxMobile app as well, assign the corresponding devices to their user.

Internal - Employee with own sales area:

  • If one does not already exist, create a new partner in FoxPortal and name it after the respective sales area.

  • If necessary, assign the partner elements of all your desired (business) customers to the partner element of the sales territory.

  • Create a new FoxPortal user with the role “Contributor” or “Manager” and assign the appropriate partner (sales territory) to them during this process.

  • If you have not already done so, assign the desired FoxHardware devices to the respective partner elements (e.g., business customers). This can be done both before and after the activation and installation of a device.

⇨ Your employee will now only see all FoxHardware devices in FoxPortal that are located on the same partner element as their own user account (e.g., sales territory) and all partner elements that are subordinate to this (e.g., customers).
